" /> LARISA SKALARIČ | Association of Regional Tourist Guides of Slovenia

Hello, I am Larisa Skalerič. Let me welcome you to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia!

I was born and raised in Ljubljana. I am fluent in Slovene, Italian and English, and interested in reading, studying languages, jogging, yoga practise, exploring the nature, traveling and of course I love tourist guiding.

In 1999 I graduated in Archeology at the University of Ljubljana what gave me a profound knowledge of history of the town. In the meantime I was studying Italian language and Italian culture. In 2015 I decided to combine my interest in languages, archeology and  history with my knowledge of Ljubljana, and joined guide course to become an authorized guide of Ljubljana and its surrounding area for Slovene, Italian and English language.

It gives me great pleasure to share with my guests the colourful and unique history of Ljubljana. What I like the most in my city is the combination of the modern city, old town and the vicinity of nature. During the tours we will get to know the creative opus and life of the greatest Slovenian architect, Jože Plečnik. Plečnik’s Ljubljana as a unique urban specialty is one of the most original and significant total works of art of the 20th century to be found anywhere in the world. Without doubt, Ljubljana is a “must-see” in Slovenia.

Ljubljana has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Since 2007 the city centre is closed for traffic and in 2016 was proclaimed as an European green capital. It is now car-free, public transport is low-emissions and there’s a broad cycling network. Although the capital of Ljubljana has kept its small-town charm. Can you imagine that at the beginning of the 1990s there were only some very few cafes in Ljubljana to get a cappuccino or an espresso? Today Ljubljana is famous for its bars, inns and restaurants scattered along the Ljubljanica river.

I offer walking and biking tours of Ljubljana. During my tours you will get plenty of facts, but a lot of them will be wrapped up in stories. I believe that this will form part of your lasting memories of Ljubljana. Most important: I adapt my visit to you and your interests. I hope you will enjoy one of my tours.

Welcome to Ljubljana!
